Girls' Empowerment Travel Scholarship

At EF Tours for Girls, we believe that girls who travel the world become the women that change it. Our goal is to give as many girls as possible the opportunity to travel and expand their world perspective. The Girls' Empowerment Travel Scholarship is designed to give one deserving group the opportunity to make this happen.

What is the Girls' Empowerment Travel Scholarship?
The Girls' Empowerment Travel Scholarship is a needs and merit-based scholarship for a girl-focused organization to travel on an international tour. 


How much is awarded and how many scholarships are available?
EF Tours for Girls is awarding up to $20,000 for one group of girls to travel in 2023.


When does the application period open? When does it close?
The application period will open on August 23, 2021. The application deadline is January 31, 2022. The three videos on the Tours for Girls Facebook page with the most likes will advance on to be a Top 3 Finalist. The EF Tours for Girls team will select a winner from the Top 3 Finalists based on the rubric and a winner will be announced on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2022.


What are the eligibility requirements?

  • Applicants must be an adult over the age of 18 years old 

  • Applicants must be leading/responsible for a group of girls from a girl-focused organization or a representative from the organization. For example, a Troop Leader of a Girl Scout troop or Group Leader from a girl-focused organization.

  • Applicants must be willing to travel with their group on an EF Tour for Girls international tour in the summer of 2023.

  • Girls must be between the ages of 11-18 years old at the time of travel.

  • Applicants must submit a 45-second video answering these questions: Why do you believe that your group deserves this opportunity? How will you use this experience to make an impact in your community?

  • If your group is a finalist, a representative of the group must be available on March 8, 2022 for a 20 minute phone call.


How will our submission advance to the Top 3 Finalists?
On February 7, 2022, EF Tours for Girls will publish all video submissions on our Facebook page. The videos that have the most likes will advance to the Top 3 Finalists. In the event of a tie, we will advance the tied videos into the final round selection as well. 


How will the Top 3 Finalists' submissions be graded?
Your submission will be graded based on our Girls' Empowerment Travel Scholarship Rubric. Each submission will be reviewed by members of our team. 


Can this be applied to any tour at any time?
This scholarship opportunity is applicable to any international EF Tours for Girls program. You must travel in the summer of 2023.


Can I apply if I am not a leader or an organizer of the trip?
If you are a representative of the group who will be traveling with them, you may apply their behalf. Keep in mind only one submission per group is allowed.
